Fes
Your journey begins with an early departure from Fes, heading south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is in Ifrane, a charming alpine-style town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” thanks to its clean streets, green parks, and European architecture. Continue through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary macaque monkeys, where you may stop for photos and a short walk.
The road then leads toward the south, passing through dramatic landscapes and mountain passes before reaching the lush Ziz Valley, famous for its endless palm groves, traditional villages, and ancient kasbahs. After lunch along the way, continue toward the Sahara until you arrive in Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise on the horizon. Settle into your hotel or desert lodge near the dunes and enjoy a relaxing evening at the edge of the Sahara.
Today is fully dedicated to discovering the magic of the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, you may enjoy free time to relax, explore the village, or take an optional 4×4 excursion around the dunes to visit nomad families and learn about desert life. In the late afternoon, set off on a memorable camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, following ancient caravan routes as the sun slowly sets over the sand.
Arrive at your traditional desert camp, where you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea. After dinner, enjoy an unforgettable evening under the stars with Berber music, drumming, and storytelling around the campfire. Spend the night in a comfortable desert tent, surrounded by silence and the vast beauty of the Sahara.
Wake up early to witness a stunning sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Depart Merzouga and travel west toward the Atlas Mountains, passing through desert plains and Berber villages. The first major stop is Todgha Gorge, a spectacular canyon with towering limestone cliffs that rise over 300 meters, offering a perfect spot for photos and a short walk along the river.
Continue through the scenic Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations, winding roads, lush oases, and traditional kasbahs built from red earth. After enjoying the landscapes and stopping for lunch along the way, drive toward Ouarzazate, often called the Gateway to the Sahara. Upon arrival, visit the historic Kasbah Taourirt before checking into your hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart Ouarzazate and visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic kasbahs. This ancient fortified village has been featured in many international films and series, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Take time to explore its narrow alleys and enjoy panoramic views from the top.
Continue by visiting the Atlas Film Studios before crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking mountain scenery, remote villages, and scenic viewpoints. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, with free time to relax or explore the medina, Jemaa el-Fna square, or nearby souks.
Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy some free time in Marrakech for last-minute shopping, a stroll through the medina, or a visit to a café or garden. At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your departure, marking the end of an unforgettable journey through Morocco’s imperial cities, mountains, valleys, and the Sahara Desert.
